Scramble Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 July 2026

This privacy policy explains how the Scramble iPhone app handles information. Scramble is developed and published by Gladding Digital (“we”, “us” or “our”).

The short version

Scramble does not use advertising, analytics or tracking. It does not require a Scramble account and does not send information to servers operated by us.

Your word history, scores, achievements and other personal progress are stored locally on your iPhone. If you use Apple Game Center, Apple processes the information needed for Game Center sign-in, leaderboards and multiplayer games as described below.

Information stored on your iPhone

Scramble stores the following game information locally on your device:

  • words you have played;
  • scores, dates and game modes associated with your highest-scoring words;
  • your unique-word total and achievement progress;
  • Daily Challenge best scores; and
  • dated Daily Challenge winner trophies earned by you.

This information is used only to provide Scramble’s records, achievements and Daily Challenge features. It is not sent to us.

The information remains on your iPhone until you remove it. You can delete it within Scramble by opening Records & Achievements, tapping Clear, and choosing Clear Everything. Deleting Scramble from your iPhone also removes the app’s locally stored information.

Apple Game Center

Scramble uses Apple Game Center for player authentication, leaderboards, invitations, matchmaking and real-time two-player games.

When Scramble opens, it asks Game Center whether you are signed in. If you are signed in, Game Center may make your Game Center display name and player identifier available to the app for the duration needed to show your player status, connect a match and run Game Center features. Scramble does not receive your Apple Account email address or password, and we do not retain your Game Center identifier on systems operated by us.

When you finish a Daily Challenge while signed in, Scramble can submit your score to the Apple Game Center leaderboard. During a two-player match, Game Center carries live gameplay information between the two players’ devices. This includes letter actions, played words, scores and end-of-game results. We do not operate the network carrying this information and do not keep a copy of match messages after play.

Apple controls its processing and retention of Game Center information. Apple’s handling of that information is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy. You can manage or sign out of Game Center in your iPhone settings. If you are signed out, two-player matchmaking is unavailable and Daily Challenge scores are not submitted to Game Center.

Information we do not collect through Scramble

Scramble does not:

  • use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs;
  • track you across apps or websites;
  • collect location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or health information;
  • create a developer-operated user account;
  • collect payment information; or
  • sell personal information.

Support enquiries

If you contact us for support, we will receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address and message. We use it only to respond to your enquiry and operate our support service. We do not add support enquiries to a marketing list or sell them.

We retain support correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer the enquiry, resolve related issues and meet any applicable legal obligations. Our lawful basis for this use is our legitimate interest in supporting Scramble and responding to users.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • clear all locally stored Scramble records and achievements from within the app;
  • delete the app and its local data from your iPhone;
  • sign out of or adjust Game Center through Apple’s settings; and
  • contact us to ask about personal information contained in support correspondence.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal information we hold about you, including rights to access, correct or erase it, restrict or object to its use, and complain to a data protection authority. In the United Kingdom, you can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Because we do not operate Scramble accounts or an app backend, we do not hold a developer copy of your on-device records or Game Center data that we can retrieve or delete.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if Scramble’s features or information practices change. We will publish the revised policy on this page and update the date shown above.
